Fox has released the first batch of episodic photos from Season 2 of Empire! Has the Lyon family rallied support to free their patriarch from the confines of prison?

“The Devils Are Here,”the first episode of Season 2, picks up three months after Lucious’ shocking arrest and incarceration at the end of last season. Knowing Lucious won’t be held much longer in prison, Cookie and her allies within the Lyon family make a desperate attempt to seize control of the company. But as the Lyons continue to battle each other, a bigger external threat emerges that could force them to unite.

Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is serving flawless in every photo, with her good looking sons Jamal (Jussie Smollet) and Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) proving that they get their looks and swag from their mother. Meanwhile, Cookie’s other child Andre (Trai Byers), aka the one we don’t like, looks just as dapper (probably plotting a takedown) as ever. With Lucious (Terrence Howard) rightfully rotting behind bars for murder, the Lyon clan have turned to music to rally support from fans. You’ll see “#FreeLucious” signs from the crowd in some of the pictures, in includes ones with CNN’s Don Lemon. There’s also what looks to be plenty of drama in the courtroom as Lucious faces off with the judge.

Empire series recently was nominated for three Emmy Awards, including one for Taraji P. Henson in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. It also has received four TCA Award nominations, including Program of the Year, Outstanding Program, Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Individual Achievement in Drama (Henson). Henson and Howard both recently won the BET Awards for Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively, and Henson also won the NAACP Image Award for Entertainer of the Year.

Empire’s second season premieres Wednesday, September 23.
