The Bold and The Beautiful star Heather Tom paid a visit to her old stomping grounds at The Young and the Restless last week, where she played Victoria Newman from 1990-2003, but not in the way you may think! The longtime soap vet stepped behind the camera to direct an upcoming episode.
Heather Tom tweeted the news on Monday expressing gratitude to the powers that be at Y&R for giving her the opportunity. “Oh and then this happened last week! So grateful for the opportunity! Thanks especially to @angelica_mcd @cbsdaytime #tonymorino @youngandrestlesscbs @sptv and all the actors I had the pleasure to work with,” wrote the actress on Instagram. “Such an extraordinary amount of talented people! It was so emotional for me!”
Though she still plays fan favorite Katie Logan on B&B, Tom has ventured into directing in recent years. She’s directed over a dozen episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful (a rarity for a soap star to direct where he/she currently works) and was even nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her work! The actress is also a participant in CBS’ 2018-2019 Director’s Initiative, which provides networking and shadowing opportunities for experienced directors to connect with industry leaders.
“This initiative is all about access to decision makers who can ultimately provide opportunities to advance our participants’ careers,” said Tiffany Smith-Anoa’i, Executive Vice President, Entertainment Diversity, Inclusion and Communications, CBS Entertainment. “Another rewarding aspect about this community we are building is that many of our participants will gain experience by shadowing directing alumni of previous Director Initiative programs, who are eager to share their insights.”
Tom’s episode, taped June 13, will air July 17.
TV Source Magazine sends out love and congratulations to Heather Tom!
