Soap newcomer Loren Lott has filmed her last episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless. Lott joined the cast of daytime’s number one drama last fall as a recast for Devon’s (Bryton James) sister Ana Hamilton. The former American Idol contestant-turned-actress made her debut November 2018. She previously appeared in the OWN drama Greenleaf and BET’s The Quad.

News of her exit comes as a surprise to fans, who recently celebrated the star’s inclusion into the series’ opening credits. The reason behind her exit is more surprising – a result of creative not having anything for her.

“I was a little bummed at first when I was told that creatively they didn’t know what to do with my story line and they wanted to spend their budget increasing other people’s storylines but I appreciated their honesty,” revealed the actress in a YouTube video documenting her final day.

Don’t be sad for Loren, she appears to be taking the news in stride. “Everyone has told me how much they love me and showered me with so much encouragement. Y&R is still my family forever and I have no bitterness towards them at all! Plus I’ve learned that certain no’s are an even bigger yes somewhere else. I’m grateful for every storyline I participated in and every song I got to sing.”

Co-star Bryton James commented on Loren Lott’s exit on Twitter writing, “I couldn’t be more proud to be your on and off screen bro. You are a one of a kind talent & person that I miss already!! Love you always!”
