Netflix’s Scott Pilgrim anime series titled Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will premiere November 17. Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated. The eight episode series is based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley. The voice cast, reprising their roles from the live action film, includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Alison Pill, Aubrey Plaza, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Mae Whitman, and Ellen Wong.
The Onyx Collective’s The Other Black Girl premieres on hulu September 13 with all ten episodes. Nella, an editorial assistant, is tired of being the only Black girl at her company, so she’s excited when Hazel is hired. But as Hazel’s star begins to rise, Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company.
Heart of Invictus premieres on Netflix August 30. The series follows a group of extraordinary competitors from around the globe, all service members who have experienced life-changing injuries or illnesses, on their road to the Invictus Games The Hague. The multi-episode series joins the competitors as they train, and along the way reveal powerful stories of resilience and hope. The series also follows the organizers as they work to prepare for the Games alongside each nation’s team, supporting the competitors as well as their friends and families.
The Buccaneers is set to premiere on Apple TV+ November 8 with the first three episodes. The drama series is inspired by Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel of the same name. Girls with money, men with power. New money, old secrets. A group of fun-loving young American girls explode into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition. Sent to secure husbands and titles, the buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than that, and saying “I do” is just the beginning.
Following the cancellation of Warrior Nun at Netflix, the series will now continue in a different form. A trilogy of movies will be released to continue the story according to Executive Producer Dean English. Netflix will not be involved in the movies.
Anthology series American Horror Stories will premiere on hulu October 26. The FX series features a different horror story each episode.

A&E has ordered docuseries The Chicano Squad. The four episode series chronicles a groundbreaking team of bilingual patrol officers plucked from their beats and suddenly promoted to Detectives to form the first all-Latin homicide unit dedicated to tackling Houston’s soaring rate of Latin homicide cases in 1979. Dubbed “The Chicano Squad” by the Houston media, the story of these men who for the next three decades would earn the trust of the community and the department, becoming one of the most highly decorated law enforcement units in the history of Houston, is told through first-hand accounts of the original squad members and those impacted by their work.
Painting With John will be ending following its third season. The HBO series finds the artist enhancing his intricate watercolor techniques while reflecting on life lessons big and small. The series combines Lurie’s irreverent point-of-view with dynamic captures of his paintings and original music, vivid retellings of his wildest memories, and even some of his luminary toast.
Season two of Crime Scene Confidential premieres on ID September 6. Led by forensic expert and former CSI Alina Burroughs, who notably served as the CSI on the investigation into the death of Caylee Anthony, each episode follows Burroughs as she uses modern forensic science to re-examine some of the most complex crimes in this country’s history.
