A new animated series based on the beloved cult sci-fi franchise Firefly is in development. Original star Nathan Fillion made the announcement alongside his former Firefly co-star and podcast co-host Alan Tudyk, joined by fellow original cast members Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, and Summer Glau. The proposed series is set in the timeline between the original 2002 television run and its 2005 feature film continuation, Serenity, expanding the universe while preserving continuity with the established lore. A script has been completed, and early concept art has been developed in collaboration with the Oscar and Emmy award-winning animation studio ShadowMachine. The fully assembled package is expected to be taken out to buyers shortly.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres April 6 on Disney+. Two episodes will premiere each week, with the final two airing on the ultimate Star Wars holiday, May the 4th. Set after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, this pulpy adventure finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who could be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge.
Netflix has renewed Free Bert for a second season. Bert Kreischer – shirtless comedian, party legend, perpetual wildcard – finds himself in uncharted territory when his daughters are accepted to an elite Beverly Hills private school. When his unbridled antics turn his family into outcasts, he decides to “put on a shirt” and stifle his true nature to better fit in.
CBS will air The Neighborhood: A Farewell Special April 6. Hosted by Kevin Frazier and filmed on location on The Neighborhood‘s stages, the special celebrates the acclaimed CBS comedy’s final season, honoring eight seasons, 156 episodes, and eight unforgettable years of laughter, heart and community, leading up to the series finale on May 11. Noomi Rapace, Ramzy Bedia, Sean Harris, and Corrado Invernizzi are set to recur in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed series. The four will recur, joining Lola Petticrew, Toby Wallace, Zachary Hart, Laura Marcus, Tanzyn Crawford.
Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan and Riz Ahmed have been announced as first three hosts of Saturday Night Live UK. Tina Fey will be joined by musical guest Wet Leg March 21. Jamie Dornan will be joined by musical guest Wolf Alice March 28. Riz Ahmed will be joined by musical guest Kasabian April 4. Episodes will stream on Peacock the following day in the US. Live from London at 10pm every Saturday night, each 75-minute episode, will see a different host take to the stage alongside SNL UK’s inaugural cast: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.

Jane Levy has joined the cast of NBC’s untitled Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici project. Levy joins previously announced Jake Johnson and Keith David. The project is a workplace comedy set in the world of private detectives. It continues the proud tradition of Los Angeles private eyes that began with Philip Marlowe and will end with this show.

For a 31st straight year, ESPN returns as the exclusive home of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament Presented by Capital One. ESPN networks have every angle of all 67 games covered, beginning Wednesday, March 18 with the First Four. March Madness women’s basketball on ESPN networks will have matchups available across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPNEWS. All games stream live in the ESPN App with an applicable subscription. The tournament culminates with the NCAA Women’s Final Four (April 3 & 5) live from Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Ariz. For the fourth straight year, the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship is slated for ABC, with coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 5 with a special one-hour pregame show. Last season, the 2025 national championship game delivered 8.5 million viewers, the third-best performance in history. The opening weekend will feature numerous top matchups, including the overall No. 1 seed UConn against the UTSA on Saturday at 3 p.m. (ABC). Other games featuring top seeds include: No. 1 Texas hosts the winner of Missouri State/SFA (Fri, 4 p.m., ESPN), No. 1 South Carolina faces the winner of Southern U/Samford (Sat, 1 p.m. ABC) and No. 1 UCLA takes Cal Baptist (Sat, 10 p.m., ESPN). Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen will call the inaugural Fanatics Flag Football Classic, a first-of-its-kind global competition from Fanatics Studios, on Saturday, March 21 from 4:00-8:30 PM ET / 1:00-5:30 PM PT on FOX, FOX One and Tubi. Actor and comedian Kevin Hart will serve as the event’s host alongside actor and comedian Druski. The first-of-its-kind competition includes three 12-player teams: two comprised of an incredible mix of current and former NFL stars as well as world-class athletes, and the third represented by USA Football’s reigning IFAF Flag Football World Champion U.S. Men’s National Team, setting up a can’t-miss showdown between some of the biggest names in sports and the most accomplished flag players in the world.
