Things are about to get (temporarily) sexier in Port Charles! Days of our Lives alum Blake Berris (ex-Nick) has been tapped as a temporary recast for General Hospital’s Spinelli. He’s expected to appear in several episodes in January.
Soap Opera Digest reports Bradford Anderson, who originated the role of the loveable hacker in 2006, was unable to return to film the episodes due to landing a role on Showtime’s Homeland. It should be noted that Bradford, who left the series in 2013, is not under contract with the soap and routinely returns for short stints when his schedule allows for it.
Anderson wrote a message on Facebook to fans explaining his absence writing: “So I’m appearing in a couple episodes of the upcoming season of Homeland on Showtime! It’s a show that I’ve watched and loved since it began, so to be working on it is pretty exciting. The unfortunate part is that it conflicted with some episodes of GH that I was supposed to do, and I had to back out of those episodes. To make it even worse, it all happened last minute. I put GH in a very difficult position and for that I am incredibly sorry.” He appealed to his fans to understand the show was not at fault for recasting as his backing out was short notice.
Blake Berris originated the role of DAYS’ Nick Fallon in 2006, exiting the show in 2009 and returning for another two years from 2012-2014. He’s also guest starred Breaking Bad, Pretty Little Liars and Supergirl.
