'How I Met Your Mother' Preview: Band or DJ?

How I Met Your Mother returns this week from the holiday hiatus. When we last left the gang, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) had proposed to Robin (Cobie Smulders) using the final page from his infamous playbook and she’d accepted, getting us one step closer to the wedding the show has been hinting at for what feels like forever now.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

In the new episode, “Band or DJ,” Robin learns that Barney never asked her father’s permission before he proposed. Fans know just how hard Robin has tried all her life to get her father’s approval so it’s not surprising that this is important to her. Ray Wise reprises his role as Robin’s dad so that Barney can properly ask him before the pair announces their engagement.

Ted (Josh Radnor) has gone back and forth with his feelings for Robin for years, but in the last episode, he gave Robin the push she needed to go after Barney. Of course that doesn’t mean Ted’s feelings have disappeared. In order to conceal them, Ted decides to throw all of his energy into planning the wedding (That sounds like it has disaster written all over it). Check out the preview below.
