Drew Tyler Bell replaced with ‘90210’ hunk Adam Gregory; Ed Scott brought in as a producer!
‘90210’ Hunk Tapped as Thomas Forrester Recast; Ed Scott Hired As Producer! to Live’
TV Guide’s Michael Logan is reporting The Bold and the Beautiful has axed Drew Tyler Bell as Thomas Forrester. Bell, who won the Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor at the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards has played Thomas since 2004. His replacement is 90210 season one hunk Adam Gregory. Bell’s last airdate is August 27. Gregory begins shooting within the next few days and will first air September 22.
Why the switch? Mums the word (at least for now). B&B’s Emmy winning head writer and executive producer Brad Bell chose not to comment on the recast. Logan is reporting Thomas will align himself with Brooke in the ongoing feud between the Logans and the Forresters.
So who is this Adam Gregory? The 22 year old Ohio native was named one of People Magazine’s Sexiest Men in November 2008. “That was a big surprise,” he told TVSource Magazine during our interview last January. “It all happened really fast. It was definitely cool for my parents, I guess,” he said laughing. “They got to go to the grocery store and pick up People magazine and show their friends.”
He played the rich and dreamy Ty Collins on season one of the hit CW series 90210. As Ty, he romanced Shenae Grimes’ character Annie with expensive trips in his private jet and fought for her affections against her then love-interest Ethan (Dustin Milligan). However that relationship was ended thanks to a scheming Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes), who tricked Annie into beliving she slept with Ty as payback for Annie “stealing” her part in the play “Spring Awakening.” Later, Ty got the shock of his life when he found out he was the father of Adrianna’s baby!
Gregory appeared on the February 2009 cover of 944 Magazine’s “On The Verge — Hollywood’s Rising Stars” issue. Gregory also had roles in the films 17 Again and Hannah Montana: The Movie. In the Hannah Montana film, Gregory played Drew, the love interest of Emily Osment’s character Lily.
Gregory will appear in the film “Hard Breakers,” starring Tia Carrere, Sophia Monk and Cameron Richardson, scheduled for release this year.
Logan also reported on a backstage shake up at B&B. Ed Scott, former executive producer for The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives is joining the soap as a producer. According to Logan, Scott will replace supervising producer Rhonda Friedman, who will be working more closely with Brad Bell doing other duties. I can’t see this move as another other than a positive for B&B, who will certainly benefit from the Emmy winner’s years of expertise.
