The CW Developing Wonder Woman Origin Story

0

The CW seems to really like being in the superhero business.

Vulture was the first to report the news that the network is in the early stages of developing a new series based on one of DC Comic’s most famous characters. But unlike the proposed David E. Kelley version that failed to go anywhere last pilot season and focused on Wonder Woman as an established heroine crime fighter, this version of Wonder Woman would be an origin story for a young Diana of Themyscira.

The network is no stranger to superhero origin stories. Smallville, based on Clark Kent’s journey to becoming Superman, ran for 10 seasons and the new series, Arrow, that tells the story of Oliver Queen becoming Green Arrow, is already getting strong buzz.

Allan Heinsburg (Grey’s Anatomy, The OC) has been tapped to write the script for the project, currently titled, Amazon. Heinsburg has written Wonder Woman in the comics and he is also the co-creator of Marvel’s Young Avengers. Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics are working with The CW on development. There is no script order attached at this time.
