Aja Naomi King Gets Her Mean Girl on in 'Emily Owens, M.D.' Preview

Emily Owens, M.D. is the story of a woman, who is looking to put her past behind her and focus on her new life as a doctor. But that’s not easy to do when the person who tormented her is working right beside her.

Aja Naomi King plays Emily’s rival and high school nemesis, Cassandra Kopelson. While Emily thinks of Cassandra as her nefarious tormentor, King sees her character as a fabulous intern. Like most TV characters classified as a “bully” or in this case, a bitch, there’s a lot more to Cassandra than meets the eye. In a (hilarious) CW interview, King previews her character’s relationship with Emily and the “good deeds” she did for her in high school as well as the burden she’s willing to take on to be the best.

Emily Owens, M.D. premieres Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 9:00 p.m. EST on The CW.
