Robin Christopher Returns To General Hospital

Blaze is back! Robin Christopher to reprise her role of Skye on ABC’s “General Hospital.”

Robin Christopher is bringing Skye Chandler Quartermaine home. Not so fast. Even on the heels of David Canary’s retirement announcement, Christopher will not be returning to All My Children. Instead, Skye’s heading home to Port Charles. TV Guide’s Michael Logan broke the news this afternoon that Robin Christopher will be returning to General Hospital starting March 31! Christopher’s return will coincide with the introduction of another Quartermaine – Maya (Annie Ilonzeh). According to head writer Bob Guza, “It’s hard to write GH without the Qs. Every time we drift away from the family, even though we’ve diluted them a bit over the years, it just feels wrong. So we’re looking to build them up again.”  The Quartermaine family, whose role on the show has seriously diminished over the years, now seem to be experiencing a bit of much needed revitalization!

The perennial soap hopper, Christopher joined the cast of All My Children as Skye Chandler in 1987. While Skye started off as a singer, she was later revealed to be the child of billionaire tycoon Adam Chandler (David Canary). That bit of soap history was later be undone when Skye picked up and moved from Pine Valley to nearby Llanview in 1999, where One Life to Live takes place. On One Life, it was soon revealed that Skye wasn’t really a Chandler at all. Instead, she was the daughter of Rae Cummings (Linda Dano) and her father was unknown. Next, Skye picked up and moved to Port Charles in 2001 (as Christopher jumped ship to General Hospital), because Rae told her that her father was Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon). It was eventually revealed that Skye was not in fact Alan’s daughter, but the Quartermaine family quickly adopted her as one of their own. Christopher left General Hospital in late 2007 because she was reportedly unhappy with her storyline, but the door was open for her return. Now, the time is right and she will rejoin ABC’s flagship soap.

What brings Skye back to town this time? We don’t know for sure yet, but Guza hints that Skye will be involved with Luke (Anthony Geary) & Tracy’s (Jane Elliott) storyline, and Alice (Bergen Williams) will be heavily involved as well. Last we saw Skye, she left town with toddler Lila Rae in January 2008 after the death of her Lila Rae’s father, Lorenzo Alcazar (Ted King) and her relationship with Ric (Rick Hearst) fizzled. Now the next question is, how old will Lila Rae be when Skye returns? Morgan (Aaron Refvem) could use a girlfriend! And with All My Children now located in Los Angeles where General Hospital is produced, let the crossover rumblings begin!
