Chad Allen is be joining the cast of General Hospital: Night Shift this fall in a three episode arc starting September 23rd. Night Shift, network’s most-watched of all time, follows the lives of doctors, nurses and patients as they embark on journeys of self discovery, love and heartache.
He will be playing the character of Eric Whitlow, a patient admitted into the hospital needing a liver transplant. Allen will primarily interact with Adam Grime’s Dr. Kyle Julian. The two characters will connect on a personal level and have feelings for each other.
“We’re delighted to have Chad join our show because, not only is he a remarkable actor, he’s also an amazing activist,” said head writer Sri Rao. “For years I have been inspired by Chad and welcome the honesty and authenticity that he will bring to our show.”
In 1983, Allen joined the NBC hit St. Elsewhere as Tommy Westphall, an autistic boy. Allen was only nine at the time. He then moved on to star in shows like Our House starring Deidre Hall (Marlena, DAYS) and Shannen Doherty (Brenda, 90210)which was on the air from 1986 until 1988. His next major role, and the role that he is most known for is Matthew Cooper on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman which ran from 1993 to 1997. Allen has also guest starred on numerous series and in tv movies. In 2006, Allen took a position on the Honorary Board of Directors for the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
This is Allen’s first foray into the soap genre.
