Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Return For AMC's 40th Anniversary

Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos return for ‘AMC’s’ 40th anniversary!

All My Children fan favorites Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos will reprise their roles of Haley & Mateo Santos this January in celebration of the drama’s 40th anniversary! Ripa made the announcement earlier today on the ABC morning show Live! With Regis and Kelly. The Associated Press confirms the reel turned real life couple will return on January 4-5, 2010.

New Jersey native, Kelly Ripa began her career as a dancer on Dance Party USA, and in 1990 she landed the role on ABC’s All My Children as Hayley Vaughan. In 2001 while still working on AMC, Kelly was chosen to replace long time co-host Kathie Lee Gifford on a popular ABC morning show, Live! With Regis and Kathy Lee.  Upon Kelly’s arrival, the show was renamed Live! With Regis and Kelly.

Kelly pulled double duty on both shows until her departure from the soap in 2002. She again pulled double duty in 2003, when she co-starred with Faith Ford in the comedy Hope & Faith. Kelly portrayed a soap actor who fell on hard times and moved in with her sister, Hope and her family. The situation comedy lasted for 3 seasons before being canceled due to low ratings. Kelly, also, added her voice to Kim Possible: A Stitch in Time in 2003. In 2009, the TLC Network announced they would pick up two shows produced by Kelly and husband Mark Consuelo’s production company (Milojo Productions) called, Mom Inc. and Eat, Drink and Be Married, with Kelly starring on Mom, Inc. as the host.

Kelly met future husband Mark on the set of AMC in 1995 and the couple eloped a year later, in the spring of 1996. Mark’s first major role was on AMC as Mateo Santos. Consuelos departed the soap in 2002 with his wife when their characters relocated to California.

After leaving, Mark continued his pursuit of acting. In 2005 he appeared in a feature film called The Great Raid followed by My Super Ex-Girlfriend in which he co-starred with Uma Thurman in 2006. In 2007, he appeared in the film Wedding Daze and could be seen frequently with Vivian Fox on the Lifetime drama series Missing.

Live! With Regis and Kelly will air exclusive behind the scene footage of the couple’s return to Pine Valley, according to Soaps In Depth.
