The Young and the Restless welcomes home several former residents for a reunion of sorts in Genoa City as former Baywatch star, David Hasselhoff reprises his role of Dr. William “Snapper” Foster after a 28 year absence. Along with Hasselhoff, two other blasts from the pasts are scheduled to return.

Hasselhoff, probably best known for his portrayal of Michael Knight on the long time running series, Knight Rider (1982-1986) and later, on the series BayWatch (1989-2001) as lifeguard, Mitch Buchannon. Other roles to Hasselhoff’s credit include, The Love Boat (1980-1981), BayWatch Nights (1995-1997), 3rd Rock from the Sun (1999), and Just Shoot Me (2002). He also made a return as Michael Knight in Knight Rider 2000 and again in most recent series of Knight Rider in 2008. He served as one of the judges on the popular NBC reality talent competition, America’s Got Talent from 2006-2009. The international superstar served as the guest host for the April 12 edition of World Wrestling Entertainment’s flagship program, Monday Night RAW.

Hasselhoff joined the cast of Y&R in 1975 as Dr. William ‘Snapper’ Foster, Jr., the son of Liz Foster. Hasselhoff spoke to EW.com about his short return to Genoa City, “In 1976, Bill Bell, creator of America’s No. 1 soap opera, took a chance on a young and very green actor. Playing Snapper in 850 shows during the six years I appeared molded my craft, my attitude and my work ethic. Being asked to come back to appear in several episodes gives me a chance to say thanks, as I have an amazing amount of respect and heartfelt emotion for Bill, his family and my time on Young and the Restless. I just hope I can remember all those lines.”

Snapper’s return to Genoa City will be a short term, a handful of episodes more than likely. He reports to set in May and is scheduled to start airing in mid-June.
