The Young and the Restless’ Loss is Days of Our Lives’ Gain
Well it seems that "Young and the Restless" has truly dropped the ball and lost an amazing talent in the form of wildly popular Stacy Haiduk. It was confirmed yesterday that Haiduk’s contract with Y&R would not be extended.
Head writer/co-executive producer Maria Arena Bell gave the impression that she would like to work with Haiduk again. "Stacy Haiduk is a fantastic actress and we are thrilled with her performance as Patty Williams and Dr. Emily Peterson. Though she is going off contract, we hope that Stacy will reprise these roles in the future." It looks like the future may be a long time. The powers that be at NBC’s "Days of Our Lives" saw the opportunity to snatch up this gem and is bringing her to Salem this fall.
Soap Opera Digest has announced the hiring of the soap veteran, in the role currently described as a "prison warden." Whether or not it’s long term or just a multi-episode story arc remains to be seen, but I find it highly unlikely that an actress of this caliber would be brought onto such a high power soap for just a day player role.
Could her character have a connection to an already existing character or core family? Could she be a character from the past with a dark secret or an axe to grind? If Dena Higley and Christopher Whitesell were smart, they would integrate her fully into the cast and make the most out of their incredible find.
September can’t come soon enough.
