Exiting General Hospital star Brianna Brown is joining the cast of Showtime’s new drama Homeland. The guest starring role could turn into a recurring role reports The Hollywood Reporter.

She will play Lynne Reed, a former beauty queen-turned-prostitute who has plans for a better life. Brown has played Dr. Lisa Niles on General Hospital since January 2010. The actress’ final episodes air this week.

Homeland stars Claire Danes as a CIA agent investigating the rescue of a U.S. soldier (played by Damian Lewis) missing in Iraq and presumed dead. Danes’ character along with Mandy Patinkin believe the soldier’s reappearance is part of an Al Qaueda plot.

Brown played the psychotic Dr. Lisa Niles on ABC’s General Hospital since 2010. The actress’ exit storyline is playing out on screen this week.
