'Gossip Girl's' Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage Create Crime Drama Project for CW

0

Hoping to add to the success of Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie, The CW has tapped proven hit makers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage to create another new series for the network.

CW has commissioned a pilot for Cult, a soap opera crime drama centering on a young female production assistant on a popular TV show “Cult,” who teams up with a blogger in investing the show’s rabid fans. They discover fans might be turning reel into real life by recreating scenes from the show. V’s Rockne O’Bannon will write the script and serve as EP. Schwartz and Savage’s Fake Empire will produce the project.

As part of CW President Mark Pedowitz’s vision, the network is considering taking a cable-like approach to the series, giving it a limited 13-episode run according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cult is the second project CW has ordered from Fake Empire. The company is in the process of adapting The Carrie Diaries into a series.
