Kirsten Storms (Maxie) will return to General Hospital at the end of the month reports Soap Opera Digest.
After a four month absence, fan favorite Kirsten Storms will return to the set of General Hospital later this month. In September, the soap announced it was temporarily recasting the role of Maxie due Kirsten’s undisclosed illness. Jen Lilley assumed the role of Maxie in mid-September.
“We are thrilled that Kirsten will be back to work in just a few short weeks,” said a show spokesperson to SOD. “And we thank Jen Lilley for the wonderful job she did in Kirsten’s absence.”
It was revealed on Storms’ E! reality show Dirty Soap, that she was diagnosed with endometriosis, and would be on medical leave for an undetermined length of time.
In December, Storms tweeted for the first time in months, “I hope everyone is having a great holiday season w/the ones they love…fingers crossed you’ll see more of me after the New Year!!”
Last week, the actress’ Tweeting frenzy sparked rumors her return would be sooner rather than later. “To anyone who’s tweeted me asking about my job situation, I promise to let you know… when I’m allowed to,” said the actress. Soaps in Depth reached out to GH for answers as to when the star would return, but was told “at this juncture, there’s nothing new to report regarding Kirsten Storms’ return.”
Lilley will continue to tape for the next few weeks. Kirsten will return to set at the end of January and will air towards the end of February.
