NBC has greenlit an early soap pilot for The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives from Jerry Bruckheimer Television, Warner Bros. TV and writer Sasha Penn.

Based on the 2012 novel by Josie Brown, the hour-long series is described as thriller/dramatic soap centering on “murder, secrets and lies within a tightly woven group of three couples and their families exposed in the aftermath.”

Penn will adapt the series in addition to executive producing with Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: NY, The Amazing Race); KristieAnne Reed (Dark Blue, Chase) is also attached as co-executive producer. Casting is currently underway.

Secret Lives was in development during the 2011-2012 pilot season for ABC. After the alphabet network passed on the project, Bruckheimer and Littman approached NBC.
