Bold and the Beautiful original cast member Susan Flannery is reportedly set to exit her soap after 25 years.
Soaps In Depth reports the actress has told B&B executives of her intention to leave, and according to their sources, has signed a short-term contract extension to allow time to write her out of the show. A rep for the show confirmed the actress has signed a new contract, but would not comment on the terms or length of her deal.
News of Flannery’s impending departure comes less than a week after co-star Ronn Moss announced he was departing the series as well.
Flannery’s 46 year daytime career began when she was cast as Dr. Laura Spencer on Days of our Lives in 1966. During her time at DAYS, the actress worked under the late William J. Bell (co-creator of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful), who was the soaps’ head writer at the time. Bell would later cast her on B&B in 1987, where she would originate the role of role of Stephanie Forrester.
Flannery would go on to win three Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress for her work on B&B in 2000, 2002 and 2003.
