Things are changing behind the scenes of Nashville as the show gets a new executive producer and showrunner!

From television promos to critical acclaim, ABC’s new drama, Nashville, has been getting a lot of attention. It’s a family drama taking place amid the Nashville music scene as one famous star falls and another rises. And now there’s a big change happening behind the scenes as Dee Johnson joins the show the show as executive producer/showrunner, replacing Jim Parriott.

Parriott joined Nashville in May after it had been given a full season pickup, but it’s recently been decided that Parriott is not a good fit for the show. Insert Dee Johnson, who has a deal with Lionsgate TV and ABC Studios, the two studios behind the country music drama. Johnson will executive produce alongside show creator, Callie Khouri. She was showrunner on the current season of Starz’s drama Boss, which has already wrapped production. Johnson has a lot of experience in guiding series creators with little experience running a show, and Nashville is Khouri’s first experience with a series, so it looks to be a perfect fit.

This change follows a handful of other shows who have also announced changes with their showrunners. Deadline was the first to report the behind the scenes changes at Nashville
