Castle Preview: “Cloudy with a Chance of Murder”

Most “Castle” fans are probably still trying to pick themselves up off the floor after the amazing start to Season 5 that we got on Monday. But it’s time to take a break from watching the Caskett scenes on an endless loop and check out the sneak preview for the next episode, “Cloudy with a Chance of Murder.”

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

From ABC: “On Beckett’s first day back from her suspension, she and Castle are thrown into the salacious world of local TV news when WHNY’s veteran weather girl is found dead. As if navigating an industry full of backstabbing and ruthless ambition weren’t difficult enough, they have to do it while hiding their new relationship from their coworkers, on “Castle,” Jodi Lyn O’Keefe (“Prison Break”) guest stars as a sexy entertainment reporter who sets her sights on Castle.”

Here are some other spoiler-y tidbits:

-Beckett is adamant that people not find out that she and Castle are dating yet because it is a violation of the NYPD policy. Castle points out that since they’re not paying him, he’s not really subject to that, but Beckett doesn’t want to hear it. He’s doing his best to talk her out of her pants, but Beckett gets a call about a murder and they need to go. She won’t even carpool with him (ha!).

-Laney greets them at the crime scene and she notices right away that something is different about Beckett. Kate stumbles a little with her words and then asks for a briefing on the victim. The woman, Mandy, died from a single gunshot wound, there are signs of a struggle and her purse, wallet and phone are missing so Castle thinks it sounds like a mugging gone wrong.

-Ryan and Esposito are still on the outs (boo!) and as soon as Ryan joins them, Esposito makes an excuse to leave. Ryan tells Beckett and Castle that the victim was last seen by her camera crew doing a weather spot at a hospital 20 blocks away. Esposito gets a hit on the missing phone and Beckett says she and Castle will check it out and tells them to go talk to next of kin. The guys try to make excuses not to go together, but Beckett insists.

-At Laney’s lab, she tells Castle and Beckett that it wasn’t a mugging after all. The victim’s shirt was ripped after she died and the bruises were post-mortem to make it look like a mugging and cover their tracks. Laney proudly tells Beckett that she’s figured out what’s different about her, “You’re having sex.” She tells Beckett not to deny it because she recognizes the “glow.” Beckett and Castle exchange horrified looks, but then Laney asks who the guy is. Castle seconds the question and Beckett tells him that it’s no one he would know. Castle’s response, “Are you sure? I know a lot of guys.”

-Beckett has to watch as Christina (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) flirts with Castle and insists that he do her entertainment show that night, saying she won’t take ‘no’ for an answer. Castle agrees to see her that night and when Beckett comes over, he tells her that his agent has been bugging him to promote “Frozen Heat.” Beckett just looks at him and says, “Isn’t she the reporter that shows up in her bikini?” Castle stumbles over his words and Beckett asks if he wants to try again and make it sound more convincing.

“Castle’s” next episode, “Cloudy with a Chance of Murder” airs Monday, Oct. 1 on ABC.
