Stephen Collins joins Scandal while Nashville and Last Resort add to their casts as well.
Stephen Collins – you know, the head of 7th Heaven’s Camden family – is joining ABC’s Scandal. This isn’t the first time Shonda Rimes has hired him. He played Addison’s father on Private Practice. Now he’s joining another hit series of hers in a two episode arc as a reporter. Given the current craziness going on in D.C. with Olivia Pope and her inner (and complicated) circle, it’s safe to say whatever he’s reporting on is bound to be juicy. Scandal was just picked up this week for a full 22 episode season.
Meanwhile, Daniel Buran (True Blood) is headed to Nashville in a recurring role. He’s been cast as Cy, the lead singer of a rock band who’s looking for a guitar player. Given that a rock singer has potential to be a full-on bad boy, he may just find himself entangled with Juliette. She could use a distraction from her Deacon problem. Buran joins the addition of Wyclef Jean as the head of a musical label. There’s been no official announcement on Nashville’s future, but given its ratings and critical reaction, our favorite new country singers are likely to stick around.
Also joining the ABC network is Jason Beghe (Californication) as an ex-Navy SEAL. Not much else is known about Beghe’s role, but given that the show follows a Navy SEAL crew who has sought refuge on an island after being branded traitors by the U.S. government, a former Navy SEAL is likely significant. Last Resort recently had additional episodes ordered by the network.
