If you’re anxiously waiting for our favorite liars to return next month, TVSource Magazine has a handful of spoilers to tide you over. And boy, are some of them juicy!
1. Emily is on all around lockdown.
In typical our-daughter-just-had-a-stalker-and-got-held-at-gunpoint-and-could-have-died-fashion, Emily’s father has issued a curfew, security bars on her windows, and basically done everything but lock her in a really tall tower. The upside is her girlfriend can come over whenever she wants, so at least they’ve gotten over the whole lesbian hurdle.
2. A isn’t letting Aria off the hook about keeping a secret from Ezra.
In fact, A is practically delivering congratulations you have a son gift backs to Ezra’s doorstep. Will these idle threats – and really, are A’s threats ever idle – convince Aria to come clean?
3. Byron’s mistress is now teaching history to the girls.
Meredith is now a constant in their lives and sets Aria and her friends straight from their very first class together. There’s something a little too smug and glaring about this woman that says she can’t be trusted. Given that she tells a lie to Byron and then goes back on it in the premiere, I think it’s safe to say Meredith is going to be causing a lot of trouble.
4. Toby is still doing A’s bidding.
I love Toby, so I am still having a hard time dealing with this – a very hard time. Especially since he’s running someone off the road with his car and causing accidents for someone else. Who and why? Well, the who is revealed in the premiere. As to the why… I’m guessing we’ll see more of that throughout the season.
He’s still playing the role of the sweet, doting boyfriend, which is very hard to watch. Usually I’d enjoy a scene with Toby and Spencer all cuddled up in a hot tub. Hello, sexy times! Except now I worry for Spencer because he’s a sociopath. Unfortunately Spencer is too preoccupied with a whole other situation and doesn’t notice Toby’s sudden harsh glare and stern tone. Has he always looked and acted this way? Or does knowing he’s on the other side make it more noticeable?
5. Mona is back.
She’s been released from her psychiatric facility and back at Rosewood High School. She tells Hanna that her parents are forcing her to return, but Caleb finds out that’s not the entire truth. Meanwhile, her peers aren’t exactly welcoming – one goes as far as hanging a cow brain in her locker – but she’s more determined than ever to win them over. All it takes is a little social media and a dramatic apology for everyone to be back in her good graces, but can she really be trusted?
6. Rosewood High has a seriously creepy janitor.
Even worse, Emily recognizes him from somewhere else – and you will too! He’s also in possession of the creepy baby mask and Ali’s journal that used to be in Mona’s later. Toby interrupts the girls before their investigation can go too far. Coincidence or on purpose? Hm…
7. Lucas knows more about Mona than you’d think.
Lucas reveals that Mona’s been sneaking out of the school for a while now, but refuses to say why. So does this mean these two are in cahoots?
8. Someone gets caught in a fire.
During a charity race, there’s a major boom-flash-blaze moment and someone is caught in the crossfire. A clue leads back to the liars and places the blame on them. Was it A? Was it Mona? Was it Toby? Ahhh!
9. Jason makes an unlikely ally.
One who nurses a pretty nasty wound.
Sidenote: as much as I disliked this wound tending scene (and I guarantee you will too), Jason was shirtless and beautiful and his hair is as lovely as ever. *sigh*
10. An Alison flashback reveals her connection to Byron.
A diary entry reveals that Ali was doing what Ali always did and sticking her nose where it didn’t belong. She was working Byron’s situation in her favor and receiving monetary sums to keep quiet.
Pretty Little Liars returns to ABC Family Tuesday, January 8.
