The cast for The CW’s remake of The Tomorrow People is beginning to take shape. The network has tapped Australian soap star Luke Mitchell to star in the supernatural drama.

Mitchell, star of Seven Network’s Home and Away, has been cast as John Young, a member of group known as the “Tomorrow People.” He specializes in teleportation and plays an integral role in recruiting others like him. He’s described as “dark and handsome and cool under pressure.” He is expected to be the love interest for the recently cast Peyton List (Mad Men, As the World Turns), who plays the female lead Cara.

The Tomorrow People tells the story of various young people around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution and possess special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with one another telepathically. Together, they work to defeat the forces of evil. Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Political Animals) and Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) executive produce the series. Phil Klemmer (Political Animals) will pen the pilot, directed by Danny Cannon.
