That didn’t take long! The Young and the Restless has found its new Abby Newman and she’s a Hollywood Heights alum (shocker)!
Daytime Confidential’s Jamey Giddens exclusively reports that Hollywood Heights star Melissa Ordway (ex-Chloe) has landed the role of Victor Newman’s youngest child. She’ll make her debut on the April 22 episode. She’ll reunite with former Heights co-stars Robert Adamson and Hunter Haley King, who portray Abby’s niece and nephew, Noah and Summer.
With Y&R’s former Abby, Emme Rylan (formerly known as Marcy Rylan), jumping ship to ABC’s General Hospital to take over the role of Lulu Spencer Falconeri, it was obvious a recast would be in the words. I just didn’t think it would happen so soon!
Ordway’s previous television credits include CSI: NY, Melrose Place, Entourage and Privileged. She also appeared in feature films Ted, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, In Time and 17 Again. Her newest film, thriller Odd Thomas – starring Willem DaFoe, Anton Yelchin and Nico Tortorella – hits theaters next month.
My Take: Love this. Melissa Ordway was great as Cody Longo’s trouble making girlfriend on Hollywood Heights. Given the new direction Josh Griffith seems to be taking Abby in, I’m looking forward to seeing what she’ll do. I’m sure some will complain about yet another Heights star being hired, but I have no issue with it. If you know people can handle these roles, they should be given the opportunity. I wish her the best of luck!
