On Friday, The CW had some fantastic news for fans. After the pilot aired as a backdoor episode of The Vampire Diaries last night, the network has ordered The Originals to series. But the good news doesn’t stop there. The CW has also given early renewals to Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast.

“As soon as we saw last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, we knew we wanted more of The Originals,” CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a press statement. “Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have done a fantastic job with The Vampire Diaries, which is as fast-paced and well-written as ever, and Julie has created an equally compelling world for The Originals.”

Pedowitz continued, “We’re also very excited to bring back Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie for next season, both series continue to be creatively strong and compelling and their fans are incredibly passionate. I’m very happy to have all three series on the schedule for next season.”

The fates of Nikita and The Carrie Diaries remain unknown and probably won’t be decided until the network makes the decision on the rest of the pilots it has in development.

The Vampire Diaries, Arrow and Supernatural were renewed in February.

  1. I’m a fan of all these shows, so I’m really happy they’re all going to continue airing. I can’t wait to see what their new seasons bring. Unfortunately I probably won’t be able to watch any of them live because I work evenings at DISH, but I’ll record them. My DISH Hopper can record up to six shows at once during primetime, so I’ll be able to record all these shows and my roommates will still be able to record all their shows, too. I love not having to fight with them over what to record.
