Emmy winner Maura West (ex-Carly, As the World Turns) made her much anticipated debut as Ava Jerome on ABC’s General Hospital yesterday and it was as amazing as we’d hoped.

We wondered how Ava would factor into storylines and it turns out she plays a pretty big part. Ava happens to be the mother of the recently discovered Quartermaine heir Lauren Frank, or should we say, Lauren Jerome. Luke’s investigation led him to Ava’s doorstep in Manhattan where he engaged and confronted Ava about her evasive tactics. There, he learned how Ms. Jerome came to know Robert Frank aka Robert Quartermaine and why she kept Lauren hidden away. It seems like Luke may have convinced Ava to encourage Lauren to side with great-aunt Tracy over Uncle AJ in the battle for ELQ. The big surprise of the episode came after Luke left. Ava called to someone upstairs, saying it was okay to come out now. But it wasn’t Lauren making her way downstairs, it was Sonny and Carly’s now college-age son Morgan!
