CW offers extended look at 'Reign'

The CW wants to take viewers back in time this fall with the new drama Reign. The series tells the “untold” story of Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane), also known as Mary, Queen of Scots, and her engagement to Prince Francis (Toby Regbo) of France.

But the show is much more than a simple period piece or a tale of an arranged marriage. As the newly released trailer shows (warning: it’s filled with major spoilers), Mary’s transition from Scotland to the French Court is not an easy one and it’s not necessarily a safe one either. There are many people who want to make sure a marriage doesn’t happen and those people are willing to put others in danger to achieve their goal.

There’s also the beginning of a love triangle brewing. Mary and Francis have known each other since they were children, but Francis makes it clear to a disappointed Mary that he has his own agenda. His half-brother Sebastian (Torrance Coombs) seems to have an interest in keeping Mary safe, but do his feelings go deeper than that?
