‘Under the Dome’ Scores Season 2 Renewal from CBS

0

In what might be the biggest no-brainer of the summer, CBS announced on Monday that it was renewing Under the Dome for a second season.

The drama, based on a Stephen King novel of the same name, centers on the town of Chester’s Mill, which is trapped beneath a mysterious dome. It has been a ratings hit for the network since the pilot debuted in June. Like its current freshman run, the second season of Under the Dome will have 13-episodes and will air in the summer of 2014.

“We’re excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester’s Mill,” Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, said in a press statement announcing the news.

But that wasn’t the only big announcement. King, who approved the producers’ decisions to stray from his book, will be writing the second season premiere.

Are you looking forward to another season of watching the residents deal with their new surroundings? More importantly, do you think they might start to panic any time soon?

Under the Dome airs Mondays at 10/9c on CBS.
