The Vampire Diaries has been teasing viewers with hints about a secret society at Whitmore College since the beginning of the season and now it looks like we’re finally getting answers. This week we learned more about the Augustine vampires, including that they like to snack on other vampires (Mikael would be so proud).
We also learned that they’re stronger than normal vampires when Damon couldn’t fight off Jesse, despite being much older than him. But the biggest revelation came when Damon recalled that he’d been part of the Augustine experiment way back in the day and he’d assumed that the society was gone. Dr. Wes was all too happy to relieve him of that notion, right before he knocked him out with vervain and dropped him back in his old cell.
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we have to wait an extra week for the next episode, “The Cell,” which will give us some informative flashbacks into Damon’s past experience with the secret society and what it means to be an Augustine vampire.
Soap fans will recognize One Life to Live’s Trevor St. John (Todd/Victor) as he prepares to torture Damon in the preview clip (is it just us or is he sticking something in his eye?!?!).
Meanwhile, Elena is desperate to find her missing boyfriend and turns to Aaron for help. Does Dr. Wes’ ward know more than he lets on or has he been compelled to forget one too many times? We’re also curious how Elena is tied to this – don’t forget her (now dead) roommate Megan had a picture of Elena’s (supposedly dead) adoptive father/uncle on her phone. How and why is Grayson Gilbert connected to the society and what does it mean for Elena?
Oh and did we mention that at some point, Elena finds herself strapped down in the lab? What on earth is going on here?
