Look in Genoa City! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Supergirl! Well not really, but Supergirl star Helen Slater is taking a trip to CBS’ The Young and the Restless.

TV Guide exclusively reports the actress is playing an OB/GYN named Dr. Chiverton. We all know Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) is pregnant, but is someone else in Genoa City expecting? She first airs Friday, May 2 and is slated to appear in at least five episodes with the potential for more.

Helen Slater’s career spans more than 30 years, appearing in the Supergirl film, and later revisiting the the superhero world as Lara-El on The CW’s hit drama Smallville. Most recently, she starred as Kristin on ABC Family’s The Lying Game alongside soap alums Alex Chando (ex-Maddie, As the World Turns), Tyler Christopher (Nikolas, General Hospital) and Christian Alexander (ex-Kiefer, GH). Additional credits include Gigantic, CSI: NY, Private Practice and Drop Dead Diva.

Any ideas on who might be in need of an OB/GYN? We’re thinking Abby Newman!

In casting news, Y&R superfan, Super Bowl Champion Michael Robinson of the Seattle Seahawks, will be making another appearance on the long-running soap reports Soap Opera Digest. Robinson returns to set to film on April 16 and will air on May 19. Once again, he’ll interact with Genoa City business mogul Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
