‘Once Upon a Time’ Preview: Hook and Ariel Team Up in ‘The Jolly Roger’

ABC/Jack Rowand

Ever since Hook found Emma in New York and brought her back to Storybrooke, there have been lingering questions about what happened to him during the past year. We know he chose not to stay with the group, but other than that, Once Upon a Time has kept viewers in the dark – until now.

The next episode, fittingly titled, “The Jolly Roger,” will give us a glimpse into what Hook was up to the past year and presumably explain why his ship never made it back to Storybrooke. We’re also going to find out how a certain little mermaid was involved when Ariel turns up in present day Storybrooke to ask for Hook’s help in finding Prince Eric.

Thanks to the episode description provided by ABC, we’ve learned that Ariel and Hook also crossed paths during the last year when Ariel accused the pirate of kidnapping and killing Eric aboard his ship. Hook informs her that his ship was stolen and Eric is most likely aboard and then the two set out to find it.

We can see from the stills released that Hook will face off against Blackbeard over the Jolly Roger. But we can’t help wondering how and why the Jolly Roger hasn’t made the trip back to the land without magic alongside Hook. We can’t imagine our favorite captain would give up his ship easily and we can’t wait to see the story unfold.

Meanwhile in Storybrooke, Emma agrees to let Regina help her work on her magic so they can try and find a way to stop Zelena and Prince Charming and Snow White are determined to prove to their grandson that spending time with them is just as fun as hanging out with Hook. That should make for some fun scenes.

Once Upon a Time airs Sunday, April 13 at 8/7c on ABC.
