The last episode of The Vampire Diaries finally filled in a lot of the blanks we’ve been waiting for all season. We know that the travelers plan to take over Mystic Falls, one body at a time, and the doppelganger prophecy was just as phony as the sun and the moon curse. Markos had been using a spell to draw Stefan and Elena together because he needed their blood.
Stefan and Elena made peace with their relationship and Damon and Elena ended theirs once more, but this time, Damon asked Elena to stay away from him. He wasn’t interested in being just friends. We all know that’s not going to last, but there are bigger problems at hand. The Other Side is falling apart and the travelers literally have an inside man now that a passenger has taken possession of Tyler. If that wasn’t bad enough, Markos destroyed the last knife that could kill a traveler.
Where do we go from here? “Man on Fire” finds the gang scrambling to find ways to stop the travelers and deal with the problems on the Other Side. But as the video promo released by The CW shows, Enzo has decided that he wants to kill Stefan because he believes that Stefan killed the love of his life, Maggie. Enzo tells Stefan and Elena that Maggie’s head was ripped off, which definitely sounds like our favorite ripper, but Stefan insists he didn’t do it.
Is he telling the truth? We’re going to assume he is because this is Stefan and he owns up to the terrible things he’s done in the past. Plus, Damon seems to have some idea as to what really happened to Maggie. But considering the travelers made a deal with Enzo that would lead him back to Maggie, it sounds to us like they might be the ones with the real answers. And since this is The Vampire Diaries, there has to be a chance that Maggie is still alive.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday, April 24 at 8/7c on The CW.
