The CW announced the fate of its bubble shows today. Hart of Dixie, The 100 and Beauty and the Beast all received renewals while The Carrie Diaries and two of the network’s freshman dramas, The Tomorrow People and Star-Crossed, were all canceled.
Hart of Dixie and The 100 were expected to be renewed for their respective fourth and second seasons, but Beauty and the Beast was a surprising choice for the second year in a row. The low-rated drama, in its sophomore season, was pulled off the air earlier this year to make room for new shows and will return in June with its remaining episodes.
The three dramas join the five series that the network renewed earlier this year: The Originals, The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Reign and Supernatural.
Along with the renewals and cancellations, The CW announced that it was ordering four pilots to series: The Flash, iZombie, Jane the Virgin and The Messengers. They opted to pass on the Supernatural spinoff Bloodlines and Identity. Check back next week for more information on the new pilots as well as The CW’s fall schedule, which will be unveiled next Thursday during their Upfront presentation.
In the meantime, hit the comments and tell us how you feel. Did your favorite show make the cut? Which pilots are you excited about?
