Matthew Atkinson, who joined the cast of The Young and the Restless earlier this year as Austin Travers, has been placed on contract reports Soaps In Depth.
Introduced as a camera man working on Avery’s (Jessica Collins) online cooking show, it was soon revealed that Austin had a revenge-agenda against the Genoa City heroine. Austin held Avery responsible for his mother’s death, an event he felt wouldn’t have happened if Avery hadn’t successfully defended her killer in a previous trial. Over the course of plotting his revenge (and botched execution), he fell in love with Nick and Phyllis daughter Summer (Hunter King)! The pair married over the summer and with Austin no longer facing charges for terrorizing Avery and accidentally shooting Paul, it looks like the future is bright for the newlyweds.
Atkinson’s previous screen credits include One Tree Hill, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Drop Dead Diva, and Parenthood.
