Soap Star Jeff Branson, ‘Smallville’s Laura Vandervoort to Recur on ‘Supergirl’

CBS’ Supergirl will introduce ancient Kryptonian prison Fort Rozz, and associated recurring characters played by The Young and the Restless’ Jeff Branson and Smallville’s Laura Vandervoort, later this season.

News of the castings was announced during the Television Critics Association winter panel reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Daytime Emmy winner Jeff Branson, known for his roles on All My Children, Guiding Light and The Young and the Restless, will recur as Master Jailer, the “forceful and unrelenting” guard stationed at Fort Rozz with no penchant for mercy. When he appears on Earth, his one mission is to catch all escaped prisoners and bring them to justice. He’ll first appear in episode 14, tentatively scheduled for February.

Laura Vandervoort will play Indigo, a supercomputer and Fort Rozz escapee who was sentenced for turning against Krypton. In the comic universe, Indigo is an android creation of Brainiac. She’s set to debut in episode 17. Vandervoort previously played Kara/Supergirl in the WB/CW drama Smallville. The actress currently stars in SyFy’s supernatural drama Bitten.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood and Jeremy Jordan. Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter serve as executive producers.

Supergirl airs Mondays on CBS.
