Soap Opera Digest is reporting a major behind the scenes shake up at NBC’s Days of our Lives. Co-head writer Josh Griffith, who was hired as part of the show’s creative revamp in 2015 has left the show.
No other information regarding the reason for Griffith’s departure is available at press time.
Breakdown writer Ryan Quan, who’s been with the show in various capacities since 2008, has been promoted to co-head writer with Dena Higley.
Days of our Lives publicity issued this statement about the behind the scenes change: “Days of our Lives is pleased to announce that staff writer Ryan Quan has joined co-head writer Dena Higley to form a new head writing team. Josh Griffith has left the show to pursue other projects and interests, and we wish him the best.”

If it is Josh’s decision to leave DAYS OF OUR LIVES, I must support him. However, I feel disappointed, as the soap has overall been miles ahead of where it was this time last year, or even 6-8 months ago. It’s promising, to see an unfamiliar name, named co-headwriter. I will remain optimistic, despite my disliking for the fact that Josh is no longer apart of the show. Josh is a rare talent who writes some amazing stories.
If Pratt weren’t doing such an incredible job at THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, I’d say go back there.
