Why is Phil getting any sympathy in this storyline? He is not a victim, but a mean and nasty drunk who nearly killed his own child. And it wasn’t that long ago he nearly killed Sharon’s son. It would be different if this was an isolated incident, but this is the latest in a long and ugly list of the things that Phil has done to his family.
Why does Ben have to forgive Phil for supposedly killing his unborn baby? Yes, Ben has made his mistakes, but that shouldn’t require him to forgive the horrible things Phil has done. Despite Shirley’s attempt to equate the situations, there really isn’t any. And then for Louise to come running to forgive Phil after he nearly killed her… that’s just too much.
Nobody is ever allowed to stay angry with Phil for too long no matter what he does. Soaps always have a character that is repeatedly forgiven the most awful transgressions and in most cases that character has never done anything to deserve it. That’s the case here. Phil has never done anything to deserve any of the love and loyalty his family has towards him, which makes this story hard to swallow and irritating to watch. And of course, Phil faces no legal repercussions for his latest actions. He never does. Another thing totally implausible in this story.
I will say for the most part, Harry Reid was very good in his scenes, though there was a bit of overacting when Paul found him right after he learned Abi ‘lost’ the baby.
I’m not a fan of bratty teenagers, in real life or on television. Maybe it’s because I come from parents who don’t put up with nonsense from their kids. I simply just don’t find it entertaining or have the patience for it. Given that, Aaron’s sister can go away anytime now. But I suspect she’s going to be hanging around like a bad smell causing trouble for the foreseeable future and I don’t like it.
Her scheming against Aaron is particularly loathsome and I find the plot device of Saundra just letting her stay with Aaron, who she hardly knows and just a few weeks ago attacked her, hard to believe.
This entire plot arc is not a bit entertaining. It’s pretty obvious that she’s going to come between Aaron and Robert given how Aaron was so nasty to Robert for merely suggesting Liv was up to something.
Not that I think that Robert and Aaron should be together, I don’t. But there’s so much other drama they could have between them that would be far more palatable and compelling than Aaron’s brat of a sister.
Robert’s new haircut is nice though. I’ve seen a lot of internet discussion about it (it’s what the fangurls do). I’m on the side of thinking it’s cute.

I liked Lydia’s reaction, too. She knew exactly what she was getting into and didn’t begrudge Alec’s decision to pursue something happier.
Aaron wasn’t nasty to Robert for suggesting Liv was up to something. He was nasty to Robert because Liv could only find something out that was dangerous because Robert bribed a kid to make a false allegation. Robert created this mess in his attempt to meddle with Aaron’s life without his consent, and Aaron isn’t going to waste time giving him sympathy when there isn’t much that they could do.
Didn’t Lawrence give Bernice a pass to pursue other men? She declined, but based on what he said about his late wife, he seemed like he would be fine with it if she discretely met her needs elsewhere.
Phil’s doing too many horrible things in a row for people to forgive him. They should at least create some event or action that gives his family a reason to reconsider.
I hope the fake baby drama doesn’t last too much longer. I also wonder whether Paul/Lee/Whitney will notice they’ve picked up Ben and Abi’s infection.
I’m looking forward to Johnny being back. There’s only so much gay guys and their girlfriends that I can take.
