Gays of Our Lives: Is He Or Isn’t He?

This week in Gays of Our Lives, Emmerdale is light on the gays, but there is a delicious revenge plot going on. But what is the big mistake the show is making?  While, on Hollyoaks, Ste is out of rehab, and he’s still a violent idiot. Will his baby mama Amy put him in his place? And we haven’t watched New Zealand soap Shortland Street in awhile, but is the current storyline with Jack worth a look?  All this and more!

Coronation Street  (U.K.)

I see they are setting up for Todd’s war with Phelan, which is a storyline I could be down for.   I like it because it lets Todd be scheming and devious for a good cause.  I’m delighted the show is finally writing for Todd after ignoring him for most of the time since his return.

EastEnders  (U.K.)

I really like Ben and Jay’s relationship and I loved these scenes of them being there for each other.  I wish Jay would be able to move back into the Mitchell home and get his job back.  I still don’t buy Phil having kicked Jay out and turning on him like he did.  I just think that whole plot point is contrived for the drug addiction story.

Screen Shot 2016-08-15 at 1.29.34 AMIt’s obvious that Ben and Jay are up to something in regards to getting revenge for Paul’s death and I think Phil knows it.  He just won’t stop Ben because Phil knows it’s something he would do if the situation were the same. It’s his way of being a good parent, I guess.

Ian is doing a lousy job of being there for Ben.  I realize he needs to help Jane, but Ben is his brother and his boyfriend was brutally murdered.  Give the kid a few minutes of your time, okay?  Phil is being more attentive for God’s sake.

Harry Reid’s acting during this story has been really good.  He’s blossomed during his time on the show.

Emmerdale  (U.K.)

This LawScreen Shot 2016-08-15 at 1.38.38 AMrence gets shot storyline is actually been kind of fun.

Andy is so gullible to taken so long to figure out that Chrissie was behind the frame job. Then, he’s always been an idiot.  Like Chrissie said, even she couldn’t believe it took him so long to get a clue when it was so obvious.

That said, her wanting Andy go to jail for cheating on her seems extreme.  She wasn’t that hateful towards Robert and he did way worse.   At any rate, she needs to pay dearly for this evil, evil scheme.

I’m sorry, I don’t remember Chrissie being all that upset about causing the helicopter crash that killed three people.

I think the show is kind of ridiculous with the harsh makeup they are putting Chrissie in to make her look more ‘evil’.  We get it, show.  We get it.

Don’t tell anybody, but Lachlan gets cuter everytime I see him.  He’s going to be a real hunk in about 5 years or so.

I watch a lot of television, probably too much. But can you really watch too much TV? I've yet to find out. Anyway, I especially love TV when they give us positive portrayals of gays, something that has gotten better but we're still fighting for. I've written about gays in television for many years first at the much missed After Elton, then New Now Next and now at TV Source. It's kind of a passion of mine and I look forward to sharing it with you.
