2018 Daytime Emmy Awards: NBC’s Days of our Lives wins Best Drama

0

The 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, CA. Hosted by Extra’s Mario Lopez and The Talk’s Sheryl Underwood, the ceremony was a celebration of the best of daytime, especially soap operas. NBC’s Days of our Lives won numerous awards including Drama Series, Writing Team and Directing Team, in addition to Lead Actor and Supporting Actor.

Long running serials General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, celebrating their 55 and 45 anniversaries respectively, were honored with beautiful montages and tributes . Days of our Lives stars and real life couple Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Doug and Julie) received a Lifetime Achievement Emmy for their historic careers.

In previous years, the lack of a network home for the awards has led to some questionable red carpet and broadcast coverage, but this year none of that was to be found. The Daytime Emmys partnered with KNEKT to provide streaming coverage on numerous platforms, including YouTube, which gave fans and up close view of the ceremony.
