Daytime Emmy winner and Lost star Cynthia Watros is joining the cast of ABC’s General Hospital this summer. The soap alum will replace the outgoing Michelle Stafford as fashion publisher and socialite Nina Reeves-Cassadine.

People’s exclusive report on the casting revealed Watros will begin filming in early June. The recast is a result of Stafford departing GH to return to The Young and the Restless as Phyllis Summers. Stafford has played Nina since 2014.

Watros an experienced daytime alum, most notable for her four-year run as the psychotic Annie Duton on CBS’ Guiding Light. The hell raiser would make the lives of Reva (Kim Zimmer) and Josh (Robert Newman) a living nightmare. Her fearless portrayal of the unhinged Annie earned her a Daytime Emmy in 1998, winning for Outstanding Lead Actress. After departing Guiding Light in 1998, she briefly assumed the role of Victoria McKinnon on Another World while Jensen Buchanan was on maternity leave.

In 2005, Cynthia Watros landed her most high-profile role when she joined the cast of ABC’s Lost. From 2005-2006, Watros played psychologist Libby Smith on the hit series.

The actress returned to soaps in the fall of 2013 when she was cast on The Young and the Restless as Kelly Andrews. She vacated the role to Cady McClain the following February due to landing a starring role in the MTV series Finding Carter.
