6 Teasers for ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 3

0

Are you ready to return to the dojo? Netflix is kicking off 2021 with the return of the hit TV series Cobra Kai. Read on for six teasers ahead of the third season debut.

Smooth Criminal

Throughout its first two seasons, Cobra Kai used flashbacks to give fans insight into their characters and motivations — from Johnny’s (William Zabka) past with his cruel stepfather to Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) being bullied for the scar on his lip. Multiple flashbacks explore the life of a young John Kreese (Martin Kove) and his oft-mentioned time in the Vietnam War.

Don’t You (Forget About Me)

By now you know that Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) returns to Okinawa this season and reconnects with Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) from The Karate Kid Part II. Each reunion provides Daniel with new information about Mr. Miyagi and the hidden origins of Miyagi-Do karate. Keep tissues close by for a touching scene chronicling the final days of Daniel’s sensei.

What’s Love Got to Do with It?

Fans of Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) will be happy to know his star is on the rise at West Valley following the season 2 finale. This newfound popularity catches the eye of someone unexpected and a budding romance begins for our favorite lovable nerd.

Under Pressure

One of the standout storylines this year belongs to Sam (Mary Mouser) as she struggles with PTSD following Tory’s (Peyton List) attack last season. Sam’s journey to healing takes her to some surprising places, including a clever nod to The Karate Kid and the iconic rowboat scene. However, her trauma will lead to consequences for at least one other student before all is said and done.

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

The characters of Cobra Kai have shifted allegiances many times over the course of the series, a trend that continues in season 3. Look for more than one character to switch dojos by season’s end — including two major shifts that will leave you counting the days until season 4.

In The Air Tonight

Believe it or not, there’s a pretty big spoiler hiding in the third season key art (below). Eagle-eyed fans will definitely want to revisit after watching all 10 episodes.

Cobra Kai season 3 arrives January 1, 2021 on Netflix.

Cobra Kai takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). Season 3 finds everyone reeling in the aftermath of the violent high school brawl between their dojos, which has left Miguel in a precarious condition. While Daniel searches for answers in his past and Johnny seeks redemption, Kreese further manipulates his vulnerable students with his own vision of dominance. The soul of the Valley is at stake, and the fate of every student and sensei hangs in the balance.

Cobra Kai is written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg via their production company, Counterbalance Entertainment. Will Smith, James Lassiter, and Caleeb Pinkett executive produce for Overbrook Entertainment along with Susan Ekins in association with Sony Pictures Television. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka serve as co-executive producers.
