Your TV Source Roundup: Starz renews Raising Kanan, Cedric the Entertainer to host the Emmys, Netflix gets cooking with Paris Hilton, ESPN+ price hike, Showtime orders Vanessa Bayer comedy and more!

Starz has renewed ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ for Season 2 ahead of the series premiere July 18th. The ‘Power’ spinoff stars Mekai Curtis as the teenage version of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s character from the original Power series. Patina Miller plays his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas. The series is the second of four Power spinoff series. ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ will also be back for Season 2. 

CBS will be airing the Primetime Emmys this year and they have set Cedric the Entertainer to host this year’s festivities. It will be a live, in person event with a limited audience of nominees and their guests. The Emmys will air September 19th. 

Netflix has ordered ‘Cooking With Paris.’ The six episode series will see Paris Hilton learn from her famous friends how to cook. As per Netflix, “She’s not a trained chef and she’s not trying to be. With the help of her celebrity friends, she navigates new ingredients, new recipes and exotic kitchen appliances. Inspired by her viral YouTube video, Paris will take us from the grocery store to the finished table spread — and she might actually learn her way around the kitchen.”

Disney is set to raise the price of ESPN+ a dollar from $6 to $7 monthly and $60 to $70 yearly beginning August 13. The Disney+ and hulu bundles including ESPN+ will not see the cost increase. 

Showtime has ordered a new comedy series, “I Love This for You” starring Vanessa Bayer. The series follows Joanna Gold (Bayer), who dreams of becoming a host at a home-shopping channel. She strikes up a meaningful friendship with her idol, network star Jackie Stilton, played by Molly Shannon. It will highlight a highly competitive workplace run by an unstable billionaire, where people play dirty to succeed.

ABC has set the date for the 2021 American Music Awards. The musical celebration will air live November 21 from 8-11. 

Season 2 of ‘Diary of a Future President’ will premiere August 18 on Disney+. All 10 episodes will be released at once as opposed to Season 1’s weekly rollout schedule which wrapped in January 2020.
