‘General Hospital’ Icon Jacklyn Zeman Dies at 70

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of beloved General Hospital star Jacklyn Zeman. She was 70 years old. News of the actress’s passing was announced on social media by executive producer Frank Valentini.

Zeman, who played the role of Bobbie Spencer on the popular soap opera for over four decades. She was known for her impeccable acting skills, captivating personality, and devoted fan base.

ABC Entertainment released this statement: “Jacklyn Zeman has been a beloved member of the General Hospital and ABC family since she originated the iconic role of Bobbie Spencer over 45 years ago. She leaves behind a lasting legacy for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of the bad girl turned heroine and will always be remembered for her kind heart and radiant spirit. We are devastated by the news of her passing, and send our deepest condolences to Jackie’s family, friends and loved ones.”

Born on March 6th, 1955, in Englewood, New Jersey, Zeman began her journey in the entertainment industry as a model before transitioning to acting. Her first major role came in 1977 when she was cast as Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Spencer on General Hospital. Over the years, Zeman became an integral part of the show’s success and was a fan favorite. If it wasn’t for Bobbie Spencer, there would be no Luke Spencer.

Zeman’s talent and dedication to her craft were recognized by the industry, which led to several award nominations throughout her career, earning three nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and one for Outstanding Lead Actress at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

Jacklyn Zeman is survived by her two children, Cassidy and Lacey. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.
