Otis is pining after her, whilst adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus…
Young Love premieres on Max September 21. The series expands on the animated short Hair Love, which centered around the relationship between an African American father, his daughter Zuri, and the most daunting task a father could ever come across – doing his daughter’s hair for the first time. Filled with comedy and heart, the animated series is an honest look into the world of the Young family – including millennial parents Stephen and Angela, their daughter Zuri and her pet cat Rocky – as they juggle their careers, marriage, parenthood, social issues and multi-generational dynamics, all while striving to make a better life for themselves.
The Fall of the House of Usher premieres on Netflix October 12. The eight episode limited series from Mike Flanagan is based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.
The Vanishing Triangle premieres October 26 on Sundance Now and AMC+ with the first two episodes. In the six episode season, investigative journalist Lisa Wallace publishes an article about her mother’s murder, which sparks the disappearance of Amy Reynolds. Alongside Detective David Burkely, the two work together to find Amy. Their investigation takes them around Ireland, as more girls go missing. As they follow every lead, some end up dead ends, but all the while, the killer plays psychological torture games with Lisa, putting her in compromising situations. As they get closer to finding the killer, David and Lisa learn more about the long-rooted corruption in the Gardaí system. To cover their tracks, high-ranking Gardaí members blackmail David with his own secrets. The investigative trail finally leads Lisa to the killer, where they face off again after all these years. In the end, she must confront her childhood trauma in order to save the missing girls.
Hulu has ordered docuseries It’s All Country hosted by Luke Bryan. The series explores the hottest people, topics and moments in country music by examining the iconic songs and artists that changed the face of country music forever. Marking 100 years since the first country music record was made, the series highlights the cultural impact and memorable performers and performances that make country music an American and growing global sensation.
Dancing with the Stars will air on Tuesdays this fall on ABC starting September 26. The series will also stream on hulu and Disney+ after streaming only on Disney+ last season. Jamie Lynn Spears was also announced as a contestant on the upcoming season. She will be partnered with Alan Bersten. The rest of the cast will be announced tomorrow on Good Morning America.
Food Network has rendered BBQ Brawl for a fifth season. The most recent season saw superstar chefs Bobby Flay, Anne Burrell and Sunny Anderson each lead a team of top-tier pitmasters from across the country in high-stakes challenges to determine who will be named “Master of ‘Cue.” Season five will premiere in summer 2024.
Black Cake premieres on hulu November 1. The family drama wrapped in a murder mystery with a diverse cast of characters and a global setting is based on the book by Charmaine Wilkerson. The story takes place in Jamaica, Italy, Scotland, England and Southern California. Cerar wrote the adaptation and serves as showrunner on the series, which spans decades. In the late 1960s, a runaway bride named Covey disappears into the surf off the coast of Jamaica and is feared drowned or a fugitive on the run for her husband’s murder. In present day California, a widow named Eleanor Bennett, loses her battle with cancer, leaving her two estranged children, Byron and Benny, a flash drive that holds previously untold stories of her journey from the Caribbean to America. These stories, narrated by Eleanor, shock her children and challenge everything they thought they knew about their family’s origin.
HGTV has ordered Zillow Gone Wild. Inspired by the popular Instagram account of the same name, which touts 1.8 million followers, the series will take fans beyond endlessly looking through standard home listings and into the action touring one-of-a-kind homes on the market. Each of the nine episodes will showcase three weird, wonderful and wildly quirky homes and share the backstories of their buyers, sellers and unique histories. The series will premiere in early 2024.
Docuseries The Defiant Ones will air on hulu September 19. The four episode series tells the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre — one the son of a Brooklyn longshoreman, the other straight out of Compton — and their improbable partnership and surprising leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture. From director Allen Hughes (Menace II Society) this revealing, compelling and often-gritty story takes place in recording studios, in humble homes and massive mansions, in criminal courts and in the highest corridors of corporate power. The docuseries originally aired on HBO.

TBS has expanded its comedy line up by licensing Modern Family beginning September 25. The series will air on weekdays in the network’s 12:30-3:30 p.m. ET/PT time slot. It follows the diverse and complex Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan as they navigate daily life. The network will also air longer daily marathons of The Big Bang Theory.
