Netflix has renewed Blue Eye Samurai for a second season. The series is a provocative and visually stunning cinematic series immersing the viewer in a world of vivid adult animation with a live-action edge. Set in Edo-period Japan, it follows Mizu, a mixed-race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise seeking the deliverance of revenge.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special will premiere on Disney+ December 25. The Christmas Special welcomes Ncuti Gatwa as The Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as his new companion, Ruby Sunday. Long ago on Christmas Eve, a baby was abandoned in the snow. Today, Ruby Sunday meets the Doctor, stolen babies, goblins and perhaps the secret of her birth. 

Anime series Solo Leveling will premiere January 6 on Crunchyroll. Over a decade has passed since a pathway called a “gate” which connects this world and another dimension suddenly appeared, and people with superhuman powers called “hunters” have been awakened. Hunters use their superhuman powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates to make a living, and Sung Jinwoo, a hunter of the lowest rank, is considered the Weakest Hunter of All Mankind. One day, he encounters a double dungeon, a high-level dungeon hidden inside a low-level one. In front of a severely wounded Jinwoo, a mysterious quest window pops up. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to take on the quest, which makes him the only person who can level up.

Godspeed premieres on YouTube December 15. The short from Final Space creator Olan Rogers follows the journey of Iris, a young woman, and her adorable karaoke-bot sidekick named Bowie as they navigate the desolate landscape and abandoned homes of their crumbling world. Her path takes an unexpected turn when they stumble upon a mysterious broadcast that holds the key to their escape. To get the message, she must survive a planet-ending storm. It features the voices of Troy Baker, Claudia Black, Bryce Charles, Coty Galloway & Olan Rogers and a few surprises. 

The Netflix Slam, headlined by 22-time Grand Slam men’s singles title champion Rafael Nadal facing off against World No. 2 and fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, will stream live March 3 on Netflix. The event, hosted by MGM Resorts International inside Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, will stream as a duaI broadcast for English and Spanish speaking markets. Additional players and matchups will be announced at a later date. 

Season eleven of Vanderpump Rules premieres January 30 on Bravo. The former SURvers attempt to pick up the pieces following a scandal that jolted the tight-knit friend group. With resentments, forgiveness and shifting alliances, they attempt to navigate the lines drawn in the sand while rebuilding friendships, developing their businesses and healing from past relationships. Returning for the new season are Lisa Vanderpump, Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, Katie Maloney, Lala Kent, Scheana Shay, Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. James’ girlfriend, Ally Lewber, and Scheana’s husband, Brock Davies, return as well. Special A Decade of Rumors and Lies will air December 12 on Bravo taking a look down memory lane at 10 years of the most talked about deceptions and transgressions within the friend group. The following day, Peacock will stream an extended version of the special with exclusive sneak peeks of the upcoming season. 

Netflix has ordered a new romantic comedy series from Lena Dunham titled Too Much. Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe will star in the ten episode series set in London. Jessica is a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister. But when she meets Felix – who is less Hugh Grant in Notting Hill and more Hugh Grant’s drunken roommate – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language? It is an ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is. Production will begin in 2024. 

90 Day: The Single Life returns January 1 on TLC. Fan-favorites are looking to find love again, while attempting to let go of baggage from their past. The new season features two returning singles and five new singles on their quests for love. Throughout the season, the singles will navigate the world of online dating, first dates, first loves, and of course, the pain and heartbreak that comes when you navigate the world of dating. 

Prime Video has ordered Obsession based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel “56 Days.” The series follows Oliver and Ciara, who, after meeting randomly in a supermarket, fall for each other fast, and dangerously hard. Fifty-six days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified body – brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed. Did he kill her? Did she kill him? Intercutting between an intense single day in the present investigation and the twisted trajectory of the young lovers’ affair in the past, the series is both a unique crime story and a riveting, erotic, psychological thriller. While the novel is set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series will not be. 

Battle on the Mountain premieres January 22 on HGTV. Set at 13,000 feet above sea level, the competition series will raise the stakes of competitive home renovation to new heights. Three skilled teams – coached by home experts Rico León, Kim Myles and Kim Wolfe – will face-off to upgrade similar mountainside homes in Breckenridge, Colorado. With an all-star roster of HGTV stars to judge the weekly challenges, each team will work to add the most property value in hopes of clinching bragging rights and a $50,000 cash prize. 

Anna Lambe has been cast in Netflix’s upcoming untitled Arctic comedy series. The series follows a young Inuk mother who wants to build a new future for herself, but it won’t be easy in her small Arctic town where everyone knows your business. Lambe will star as young Inuk mother Siaja, with seven-year old Inuk actress from Iqaluit, Nunavut, Keira Cooper, making her screen debut as Siaja’s daughter Bun. Filming will begin in the spring. 

WE tv has ordered Barnes Bunch, a new reality series following NBA Champion, ESPN Analyst and successful Podcaster, Matt Barnes, and his fiancée: model and reality personality, Anansa Sims. Together, they parent six children ranging ages five to fifteen – Matt has two children from a previous relationship, Anansa has three from hers and, together, they have a young son. Both incredibly active and supportive parents, they are often aided by Sims’ supermodel and NY Times Bestselling mother, Beverly Johnson. The series is currently in production and will debut in the new year, exclusively on WE tv and sister streamer ALLBLK. 

Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen will be returning for CNN’s New Year’s Eve celebration live from Times Square on December 31. Sara Sidner and Cari Champion will follow Cooper and Cohen for the central time zone celebration. 

Production has begun on an adaptation of Gill Hornby’s novel “Miss Austen.” Keeley Hawes, Rose Leslie, Patsy Ferran, Jessica Hynes, Mirren Mack, Phyllis Logan, Kevin McNally, Max Irons, Alfred Enoch, Calam Lynch, and Liv Hill star in the four episode series which will air on PBS. 

Trevor Noah: Where Was I premieres December 19 on Netflix. Returning to Netflix for his fourth original comedy special, Trevor Noah shares his hilarious experiences from his recent travels around the world, ranging from foreign national anthems to varying cultural norms. The special was filmed at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, MI. 

Showtime’s linear network will be rebranded as Paramount+ with Showtime on January 8. The network will feature highly anticipated new Showtime titles and select Paramount+ Original hit series. 

Like Flowers in Sand premieres December 20 on Netflix. Struggling to find success, a former ssireum wrestling prodigy finds himself ready to quit until he reencounters an old friend who reignites his passion.
