Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie have joined the cast of Heated Rivalry for its upcoming second season. Smith and Gillespie will play Harris Drover and Troy Barrett joining Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie in leading roles for the upcoming new season. The first season told the story of rival hockey players Shane Hollander (Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Storrie). Bound by ambition, rivalry and a magnetic pull neither of them fully understood, what began as a secret fling between two fresh-faced rookies evolved into a years-long journey of love, denial, and self-discovery. The series will return to HBO Max Spring 2027.
The fifth and final season of Outer Banks premieres August 20 on Netflix. The new season finds the Pogues at their absolute breaking point following the tragic loss of JJ in Morocco. The Descendants Universe is growing with Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story. The music-and-dance-fueled movie is coming soon to Disney Channel and Disney+. It centers on the journey of the unsung heroes behind Disney’s greatest adventures – the sidekicks! The film goes into production next week. Hidden in the center of each fairy tale is a portal to a secret training facility where the descendants of legendary sidekicks are challenged to join the elite ranks of partners to heroes. When a villainous duo comes to Sidekick Academy, a group of fresh recruits must band together – without heroes, without parents – using only their new skills to save the fairytale realm before it’s too late. Dior Goodjohn stars as Jennie, the daughter of Genie from “Aladdin”. Momona Tamada stars as Zara, the daughter of Yzma from “The Emperor’s New Groove”. Jacob Rodriguez stars as Kronk Jr., the son of Kronk from “The Emperor’s New Groove”. Eva Fossaceca Smedley stars as Meri, the daughter of Merryweather from “Sleeping Beauty”. Harry Jones stars as Lou, the son of Lumiere from “Beauty and the Beast”. Also joining the cast are Rhys Dawkins, Connor Wong and Kyra Wong as the Potts Siblings from “Beauty and the Beast”.
Blue Bloods star Will Estes will make an appearance in Boston Blue. Estes will reprise the role of Jamie Reagan in the second season of the spinoff series. The season will premiere October 9 on CBS.
The English dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!! season two will premiere on hulu October 19. It will air on Disney XD October 3.
On August 22 and August 29, adult swim’s Toonami block will air marathons of My Adventures with Superman from midnight to 2:30am. Two episodes of Blue Exorcist will follow. FLCL: Grunge will cap off the night at 3:30am.
Netflix is developing a scripted series based on the New York Yankees. The untitled project is from Josh Wakely and Jason Bateman‘s Aggregate Films.
Disney+ has ordered a pilot for Spaceship Earth. The project is based on the EPCOT ride at Disney World. The series would see teens from the past and future team up to take on a threat to time.
Season two of City of God: The Fight Rages On premieres this November on HBO. The new season begins with a dramatic, investigative tone, exploring the complex power dynamics within the community. After the death of drug lord Curió, a war for control of City of Gods erupts between Geninho, his heir, and Matarrindo, his right-hand man. Hayley Kiyoko’s Girls Like Girls begins streaming August 14 on Peacock. The film stars Maya da Costa, Myra Molloy, Levon Hawke and Zach Braff. Based on writer/director Hayley Kiyoko’s hit single and best-selling novel of the same name and featuring all-new music from Kiyoko, the film is a heartfelt coming-of-age story set over the course of one sun-drenched summer, where new-girl-in-town Coley falls in love for the first time while learning to accept herself along the way.
