General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini teased fans on Twitter that big casting news was coming and boy was his right! A famous alum from a majorly popular 80s primetime soap is heading to Port Charles!
Entertainment Weekly reports Knots Landing alum Donna Mills, best known for her nine-year stint as villainess and temptress Abby Ewing, is joining the cast! Little is known about the role at the moment, but EW reports Mills is playing a new, major character and will first air in February.
This won’t be Donna Mills’ first foray into daytime. The actress previously starred in soap operas The Secret Storm and Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing before conquering primetime television. With a career spanning 48 years, she’s amassed a deep resume of starring and guest starring roles ranging from Gunsmoke to GCB.
We’ll try to get some dish from Valentini later tonight during Disney-ABC’s All-Star Cocktail Reception. Think he’ll spill?
That is the million dollar question. GH has brought in so many newbies & put them prominently in front burner storylines to the point they are bringing on even more newbies to make the newbies they already have relevant or to continue to make them relevant. Something is going to eventually give. Three of the people listed are Q’s. With what I’m watching on my screen, I have this unsettling feeling that before the summer is over, the Q’s are going to disappear from our screen & the Jeromes will take their place. For some reason RC believes that his creations should take center stage while majority of GH characters that were there before he took over the reigns just languish.
I agree. Why are some of our most beloved characters being pushed aside? I am a huge fan of many of the characters that you mentioned. How does GH expect to survive without our favorite characters involved in front burner storylines?
I would be excited about Donna Mills coming because I do love Donna Mills but all I can think about is that the GH characters that we barely see already Alexis, Monica, Tracy, Elizabeth, Epiphany, & AJ, we’ll be seeing even less of them to push whatever storyline she’s going to be in. It truly has to be on the heartbreaking side that the actors/actresses that dedicated themselves to GH have been so marginalized where they are rarely seen.
