Venting On Twitter Creates Drama!
When actor Neil Patrick Harris wants the world to know how he feels, he really tells the world. Earlier today the How I Met Your Mother Star turned to Twitter (@ActuallyNPH) to vent his frustration about some behind the scenes drama at his show. Ordinarily this wouldn’t be a problem. Actors vent frustrations all of the time, but rarely ever do they go as far as to call someone out by name for their actions. Harris took to task The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden (Victor) for backing out of an appearance on the hit CBS comedy. “Eric Braeden is a D-Bag,” Harris wrote. “The actor, (Robin’s dad) agreed to a cameo, then last night bailed, saying the part wasn’t ‘substantial’ enough.”
Ouch! The star went on to announce that Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, Reaper) would take over the role, writing “We’ve recast with Ray Wise, a fantastic actor who makes any part ‘substantial’. Super excited to welcome him to the family!” A few hours later, Harris seemed to regret his earlier comments, posting this: “Now I feel bad for the D-bag comment. Don’t know the guy personally. I’m just fiercely protective of our show.” Water under the bridge now right? Wrong!
Entertainment Weekly’s Lynette Rice reached out to Eric Braeden for response. “I really don’t know who that fellow is. He’s a guy who stars in that series,” Braeden said to EW laughing. Braeden went on to explain his reasons for not appearing on the show. The actor recently underwent hip surgery and since returning to work has had his work load increased. “I’ve doubled my work, 30 to 50 pages a day for me, alone. Everyone knows that I’m exhausted. I was not about [to] appear on a show for two lines, because that’s what it amounted to.”
Braeden also had some pointed words about Harris. “It seems to me like a young whippersnapper, having seen himself on a few covers, who’s received a few awards, is now suddenly suffering from the first signs of hubris. I’ve been in the business for 50 years. I’ve seen people come and go and I’m still here.”
